Temple Garden Chambers (TGC) leads the way International law.

The TGC International Law team is widely acknowledged as a pioneer in the field of International Law. Our growing specialist team has acted in leading cases across the full spectrum of public international law, international criminal law and international human rights law. We appear before all international courts and tribunals including the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and the International Criminal Court (ICC), as well as before the United Nations and its bodies, and regional courts including the European Court of Human Rights and the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights. We also act before national courts in cases involving international law matters. TGC has a permanent presence in The Hague at our premises at Lange Voorhout 82.

Members of TGC have substantial experience in advising and representing States, political leaders, military forces, companies, victim groups and individual claimants and defendants in international proceedings. Our work covers a broad range of areas: including inter-State disputes; UN matters and claims; international investigations, prosecutions and defence; universal jurisdiction cases; transitional justice; civil claims particularly with international dimensions; public inquiries, internationally and domestically; investor-State disputes; ‘class action’ victim claims; actions concerning damage to the environment; cases concerning immunities; extradition and mutual assistance; regulation and compliance; financial inquiries and asset recovery; and private international law matters.

Our members include the current Chief Prosecutor at the International Criminal Court, the former Attorney General for England and Wales, the former Prosecutor for the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia, as well as the co-authors of the leading textbook on the practice and procedure of international criminal courts, Archbold International, now in its fifth edition. Among our Associate members are a former Judge of the International Court of Justice, the former Chief Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda, the former President of the Paris Bar, the former Special Assistant to the President of the International Court of Justice, and specialists in international arbitration. We have practicing lawyers and associates with a wealth of experience at all levels, spanning several national jurisdictions and languages, thus providing an unparalleled network of expertise.

Members of TGC frequently publish and lecture on international law topics, commentate in both print and broadcast media on prominent legal developments, and act as trainers in international litigation and advocacy around the world. TGC is acutely aware of the need to extend access to justice to all and thus where most needed, undertakes pro bono cases.
