Former Head of Temple Garden Chambers is sworn in as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales

02/10/2017

The Rt Hon Sir Ian Burnett, our former Head of Chambers, was sworn in this morning as Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales. Many members of Chambers attended the ceremony in the Lord Chief Justice’s Court which was packed for the occasion. We are all personally and professionally immensely proud of Sir Ian’s achievement and wish him well for the future as the most senior judge in England and Wales.

Sir Ian was a member of Temple Garden Chambers throughout his practice at the Bar. He was our Head of Chambers between 2003 and 2008. He was appointed a Judge of the High Court, Queen’s Bench Division in 2008 and was Presiding Judge on the Western Circuit between 2011 and 2014. He was appointed a Lord Justice of Appeal in 2014.
