Andrew Cayley CMG KC re-appointed Director Service Prosecutions

17/08/2018

Andrew, who has been Director Service Prosecutions (DSP) of the Service Prosecuting Authority since December 2013, has agreed to extend until November 2020.

The Service Prosecuting Authority provides independent consideration of criminal and service disciplinary offences. The Authority prosecutes cases in the service courts at first instance and represents the Crown in the service appellate courts, whilst working closely with the service police and other related bodies. The Authority aims to treat victims of crime with care and sensitivity. Independent from the Service Chain of Command, the Service Prosecuting Authority function supports operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces.

On accepting the extension of his post, Andrew said:

“The Department has asked me to extend in post as DSP for a period of two years until November 2020.  I have agreed to this and very much look forward to continuing to work and co-operate with all the civilian and military staff at the SPA and with all my colleagues across Defence and other government departments.”

Chief of Defence People Lieutenant General Richard Nugee said:

“I am delighted that Andrew has agreed to extend his post. This is a key time for the Service Prosecuting Authority and he’ll continue to provide clear direction and knowledge as they move forward.”
