Rhys Davies was interviewed on Al Jazeera television and asked to comment on the likely outcomes following a request by the Detention Review Panel to visit women activists currently imprisoned in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia detained a number of activists last year. Recent reports have suggested that those individuals have been denied basic legal rights and have been subjected to torture whilst in detention. A cross-party group of parliamentarians, as well as leading international lawyers, have written to the Saudi embassy in the United Kingdom asking for assistance in organising a visit to those activists.
