UK government pays £1m to Cyprus ‘torture victims’

Andrew O’Connor KC and Cathy McGahey KC have been acting for the Foreign Office and the Ministry of Defence in claims brought by EOKA veterans alleging mistreatment during the Cyprus emergency in the 1950s.

The claims have now been settled, without admission of liability, for a sum of £1million, with costs to be assessed.
