Supreme Court hears worker registration case

Julia Smyth, led by Martin Chamberlain QC and David Blundell, is representing the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions in an appeal being heard at the Supreme Court on 12 & 13 March.

It concerns the legality of the UK’s decision to extend the Worker Registration Scheme (which applied to individuals coming to work in the UK from the 8 Accession States which joined the EU in 2004) by two years, between 2009 and 2011. There is also a discrete issue about rights of permanent residence. Further information is available at the link below.
