The proposed takeover bid of Newcastle United by a Saudi led consortium has been called off. Hatice Cengiz the fiancee of slain Washington Post journalist, Jamal Khashoggi, has been engaging the Premier League to prevent the deal from going ahead.
Ms Cengiz is represented by Rodney Dixon KC who has made submissions on her behalf showing that it would have been a breach of the Premier League Rules if the acquisition had proceeded. This is because Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is headed by Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman who is accused of murdering Jamal Khashoggi. Ms Cengiz continues to pursue all legal avenues to hold those responsible to account.
