Rodney Dixon KC with Anne Coulon and Paul Erdunast acting for the Government of East Turkistan in Exile and Uyghur victims have filed new evidence with the ICC following an investigation of international crimes committed against Uyghurs by Chinese officials. The submission requests the ICC Prosecutor to open a full investigation under the Rome Statute without delay.
The new evidence concerns inter alia the mass deportation of Uyghurs living in Tajikistan (an ICC State Party) by Chinese authorities into China, where they have not been heard from again. The fact that the crimes were committed on the territory of an ICC State Party and continued into China provides the Court with jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute these crimes. The filing follows an extensive on the ground investigation over the past months in various countries, which is ongoing.
