Keith Morton KC represents the Civil Aviation Authority at the inquest into the death of Emiliano Sala

17/03/2022

The 5 week inquest into the death of professional footballer Emiliano Sala has concluded today at Dorset Coroner’s Court. The aircraft in which Mr Sala was a passenger crashed into the sea 22 nautical miles north north west of Guernsey enroute from Nantes in France to Cardiff in the United Kingdom on 19 January 2019.

The jury concluded that the pilot was likely to have been affected by carbon monoxide poisoning caused by a failure in the aircraft exhaust system and that the flight was operated as a commercial flight without the required authorisations, certification or permission. The jury returned a narrative conclusion.
