Prosecution arising out of the Croydon Tram Crash at Sandilands

The Office of Rail and Road (ORR) has begun proceedings against Transport for London (TfL), Tram Operations Limited (TOL) and the tram driver for breaches of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. The first appearance took place today at Croydon Magistrates Court. Keith Moton KC is instructed to represent Transport for London.

Both organisations indicated pleas of guilty. The tram driver indicated a plea of not guilty. The District Judge has sent the cases to Croydon Crown Court. The trial of the driver and sentencing of TfL and TOL will take place in due course.
