11 May 2023 marked the one-year anniversary of the killing of the distinguished Al Jazeera correspondent, Shireen Abu Akleh. She was shot a year ago while reporting for Al Jazeera in Jenin, Palestine. Al Jazeera through its lawyers has conducted a comprehensive investigation into the killing in order to seek accountability and compensation for her death.
A criminal complaint has been submitted to the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague. Evidence and legal submissions have also been filed with the UN Independent Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Rodney Dixon KC appeared before the Commission at its hearings in March in Geneva. The ICC is currently reviewing Al Jazeera’s request to open an investigation into the case as part of the ICC Palestine Situation.
Rodney Dixon KC is instructed by Carter-Ruck Solicitors.
