Rhys Davies is co-hosting an open evidence gathering session on 14th June 2023 at the House of Lords to investigate the real costs of doing business in the UAE, with a focus on Dubai.
The criminal justice system in Dubai has come under intense scrutiny in recent years for its treatment of businesspeople, particularly non-Emiratis. It is an issue that has garnered significant attention, with many individuals and organisations advocating for reform.
In response to this, a parliamentary panel has been commissioned to investigate the matter and produce an independent report with proposals for reform.
Chaired by Baroness Kennedy, Chair of the International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute, along with Rt Hon Sir Robert Buckland KBE KC MP and Rt Hon Alistair Carmichael MP, the panel will hear live evidence from experts and witnesses on the risks of doing business in the UAE with a specific focus on the imprisonment of UK nationals, particularly businesspeople in Dubai.
The session will be open to the public. Should you wish to attend, please book here:
