Andrew O’Connor KC acted for Baroness Hallett, the Chair of the UK Covid-19 Inquiry, in the recent JR proceedings brought by the Cabinet Office against the Inquiry, relating to the production of WhatsApp messages and other documents. In a judgment delivered today, the Divisional Court dismissed the Cabinet Office’s claim. The Cabinet Office has stated that it will now comply with the Chair’s direction to produce the disputed material.
