A statutory ‘Reg 6’ Review panel has concluded that Andy Hill, the pilot of the Hawker Hunter that crashed at the Shoreham Airshow in 2015 killing 11 people and injuring many more, should have all of his flying licences revoked.
The hearing, which took place over two days in early October, heard argument regarding the admissibility of AAIB evidence, Mr Hill’s cognitive state at the material time, and his culpability for events, as well as the proper licensing response to the crash.
David R White represented the CAA’s Safety and Airspace Group, who contended that all of Mr Hill’s licences (including his commercial and private pilot licences) should be revoked. The panel agreed that, on the grounds of both competence and fitness of character, that was the appropriate response.
