Rodney Dixon KC has been appointed as legal counsel by the family of Abdulrahman Yusuf Al-Qaradawi, a lauded Turkish poet, who was abducted in Lebanon and forcibly taken to the UAE where he has disappeared. His whereabouts in the UAE are currently unknown. His family are gravely concerned for his safety and are urgently calling on the UAE authorities to provide access to him, guarantee his well-being, and release him so that they can be reunited as soon as possible.
Abdulrahman was arrested on 28 December 2024 at the Masnaa border while crossing from Syria into Lebanon. On 8 January 2025, UN experts urged the Lebanese authorities not to extradite him to the UAE, expressing concerns that he could be subjected to torture, ill-treatment, and enforced disappearance. However, he was flown to the UAE on the same day without any fair hearing and due process.
