Following six days of deeply moving impact statements and commemorative evidence provided by the victims of the attack, the Southport Inquiry progressed to opening statements this week.
Nicholas Moss KC leading Richard Boyle, John Goss and Harriet Wakeman provided a one day opening statement as Counsel to the Inquiry setting out an overview of the issues the Inquiry will be examining in its Phase 1 hearings: transcript available here.
Written Opening statements on behalf of many of the Core Participants have been published by the Inquiry (here) and each of the three legal teams representing the victims and a number of other Core Participants made oral opening statements (here).
The Inquiry’s Phase 1 hearings are expected to last to early November.
