TG Chambers is delighted to announce that Rhys Davies has been shortlisted for the IBA Pro Bono Award 2025, recognising his outstanding commitment to pro bono work.
The International Bar Association (IBA) Pro Bono Committee honours lawyers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication to pro bono work, and Rhys is one of only seven candidates shortlisted globally for this year’s award. He has been nominated alongside his colleague Ben Keith from 5 St Andrews Hill, who is also his co-editor at Red Notice Monitor. The award is supported by LexisNexis and represents international recognition of excellence in pro bono legal services.
Rhys and Ben were jointly named International Pro Bono Barrister of the Year award in November 2021, by Advocate, the England and Wales Bar’s national pro bono charity.
The IBA Pro Bono Committee’s mission is to support the promotion of pro bono work globally through implementation of the IBA Pro Bono Declaration and the exchange of information and best practice. Pro bono work serves as a cornerstone of the legal profession and a crucial vehicle for access to justice where legal aid systems may be insufficient.
Rhys’s nomination reflects his extensive work in international human rights law, including submissions to UN Working Groups on Arbitrary Detention and Special Rapporteurs, as well as Global Magnitsky Sanctions submissions to governments in the UK, US, and Canada.
Chambers congratulates Rhys on this well deserved international recognition and wishes him the very best with the award outcome.
