It is with great pleasure that Temple Garden Chambers announces that Nicholas Chapman has been appointed King’s Counsel in the new silks appointments announced today.
The appointment is made by His Majesty The King on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, following consideration by the independent King’s Counsel Selection Panel. The Lord Chancellor will preside over the appointment ceremony at Westminster Hall, where he will formally bestow the title of KC upon the successful applicants and award the honorary KCs.
Nick specialises in public inquiries, major inquests and judicial review. His cases regularly draw national media attention, and are frequently at the cutting edge of the law. He is consistently rated as one of the country’s leading barristers across his practice areas by the main independent legal directories, where he is described as “a class act”, “incredibly impressive”, “an outstanding advocate” and “an exceptional team leader” who is “unflappable”, “completely charming” and “a pleasure to work with”. He regularly draws praise for his intellect, judgement, tactical and strategic acumen, pragmatism, efficiency and work ethic, and for his expertise as a leader of large legal teams.
Prior to taking silk, Nick was a member of the Attorney General’s A panel and EHRC A panel, amongst several other appointments. He has appeared at all levels of the court, coronial and tribunal system, from the Magistrates to the Supreme Court, and has acted in scores of reported cases. His clients have included Prime Ministers and other senior politicians, Government departments, agencies and arm’s length bodies, the UK’s Security and Intelligence services, multinational corporations, national sports bodies, third sector organisations, and Magic Circle and other leading firms of solicitors.
