Heaton Park Synagogue attack: pre-inquest review hearings

Pre-inquest review hearings were held on 26 February 2026 before the Chief Coroner, HHJ Alexia Durran, for the inquests into the deaths of Mr Melvin Cravitz and Mr Adrian Daulby. Mr Cravitz and Mr Daulby were killed during the terrorist attack on the Heaton Park Synagogue in Manchester on Yom Kippur: 2 October 2025. During the attack, Mr Jihad Al-Shamie drove a vehicle at security and attendants at the synagogue and then attacked with a knife. The attack was described by the Home Secretary as “an evil act of antisemitic terrorism”.

A pre-inquest review was held on 27 February 2027 into the death of Mr Al-Shamie, the attacker who was wearing a fake suicide belt and was killed by firearms police.
