On 24 April 2026 June, Mr Justice Swift handed down judgment in a multi-handed extradition appeal and judicial review. The Requested Persons’ extradition had been sought by Albania to face a trial for a blood-feud murder. Mr Justice Swift allowed the appeal against the District Judge’s decision to send the case to the Secretary of State, as well as the judicial review in relation the Secretary of State’s Order finding that the order for extradition was wrong since if referred to “offences within the warrant” when the prosecutor had informed the court during the proceedings that the charge had charged, which also undermined the District Judge’s judgment. The proceedings took place over five days in the High Court.
Kathryn Howarth represented Mr Simpson in the High Court and during the proceedings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court. Saoirse Townshend represented Ms Bridgeman during the proceedings before the High Court.
