| Mark James appeared for the International Committee for Justice for Palestine (“ICJP”) at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 19 June 2026 on the defendant’s application for a costs order against the ICJP following the Chief Magistrate’s dismissal of their application for a summons against an Israeli soldier under the Foreign Enlistment Act 1870. At an earlier hearing (at which Mr James did not appear), the Chief Magistrate had found that the ICJP had failed to comply with its duty of candour to disclose material helpful to the defence in six respects and that the prosecution was vexatious and an abuse of the process of the court. The Chief Magistrate found that these failures amounted to an “improper or unnecessary” act or omission and made the costs order sought. A reserved judgment will be circulated to the parties in due course. |
