George Davies acted for the insurer in contempt proceedings brought against an claimant who had been found to have fabricated her involvement in a road traffic collision. The claimant had been caught out by her reliance on a handwritten note (allegedly provided by her at the scene) but which the insurer’s handwriting expert determined had been written by another. Having admitted her contempt, the contemnor received a suspended prison sentence.
