£825,000 settlement of a lower limb injury claim

C sustained lower limb injuries in a running down accident.

She was in her late 50s at the time and living alone in a 2-storey home with a garden.

She did well with her rehabilitation and returned to work that could accommodate her reduced mobility. She was unsteady and unsafe on stairs and her walking endurance was limited.

The contested issues in the case revolved around her need for domestic support and care in later life, and whether a stair lift would suffice or whether she needed to move to single level accommodation.

The settlement was achieved through negotiation with both parties giving ground from their best arguable cases.
