Saoirse successfully resisted the Government of Turkey’s appeal against Mr Demir’s extradition before a Divisional Court in the lead case concerning Article 3 ECHR and prison conditions. Dingemans LJ and Stacey J upheld DJ Heptonstall’s order to discharge Mr Demir on the grounds that the offence was not an extradition offence, as the conduct did not amount to a criminal offence in the UK.
