Ellen was instructed on behalf of the family in relation to a death of a plumber on a residential callout by electrocution.

There were allegations from witnesses at the scene that the power had been accidentally switched on by the homeowner, which were denied by the homeowner during evidence. The deceased’s employer also gave evidence about the training the Deceased was given on electricity. Following expert evidence from a HSE Electrical Engineer, the jury reached a conclusion of accidental death.

The incident has resulted in a Regulation 28 report to a number of organisations regarding the lack of maintenance requirements for community defibrillators. Ellen was instructed by Ian Whittaker of Irwin Mitchell.
