£550,000 settlement of a TBI claim where liability was contested.

Whilst intoxicated through alcohol, C an undergraduate stepped into the path of an approaching car in a residential street and was struck sustaining a moderately severe TBI.

After taking a year out of university to rehabilitate he returned to university and graduated with a 2:1. He was left with a residuum of symptoms that made full time work more challenging, though not impossible.

His case was presented on the basis that the enduring effects of eth TBI would likely blunt his earning capacity.

A global settlement was achieved shortly after service of proceedings to reflect both liability and quantum risks.
