Rafanvicius & Others v Motley & LVI & Others

25/09/2015

Dates of case
25/09/2015

Edward Hutchin, instructed jointly by Keoghs, Clyde & Co, DWF, and DAC Beachcrofts, represented the successful Defendant insurers in this high profile fraud ring case.

After about 15 claims were identified with strikingly similar features, the cases were case managed together as an alleged fraud ring. At trial 5 claims remained, each with multiple Claimants, which were ordered to be heard together over 10 days before the presiding civil judge in Nottingham, HHJ Godsmark QC. After a 10 day trial, the claims were rejected (save one in which the damages were very substantially reduced), and the judge made a finding that they were part of a fraud ring.
