£776,000 settlement of a TBI claim involving a foreign national.

C sustained an objectively nasty moderately severe TBI requiring a cranioplasty when run over by a bus. She was an undergraduate in Manchester at the time on a scholarship with a blue-chip Malaysian company in Kuala Lumpur.

She was due to return at the end of her degree to work for that company in Malaysia.

Through extraordinary courage on her part and skilful MDT in the UK, she was able to continue with her degree and was awarded a 2:1, one year later than scheduled.

At the time of settlement she was due to return to Malaysia start working full time for her sponsor.

There was doubt as to whether she would be able to cope with the rigours of graduate full-time employment of which the settlement took account.

The cost of care and the level of graduate wages in Malaysia were c. 25% of their equivalent in the UK, which was factored into the settlement.
