Today the Appeals Panel of the Special Tribunal of Lebanon (Hague) dismissed 22 prosecution grounds of appeal in upholding the acquittal of Al Jadeed television station (Beirut) on charges of contempt.
In addition to upholding the acquittals on all counts, the Appeals Panel upheld the acquittal of Karma Khayat, Director of AL Jadeed TV on one count of contempt and overturned her conviction on one count. The result, complete acquittals on all counts, represents the first completed case before the STL. Al Jadeed Television company and Ms. Karma Khayat directly instructed Karim Khan KC who was assisted by Mr. Rodney Dixon KC and Dato’ Shyamala Alagendra.
