Keith Morton KC and Dominic Adamson KC secure a half million pound reduction in fine for Tata Steel UK.

In what is believed to be the first successful appeal against sentence for a very large organisation sentenced for health and safety offences under the Definitive Guidelines, Keith Morton KC and Dominic Adamson KC (instructed by Damon Burt of Plexus) secured a substantial reduction in a fine imposed on Tata Steel UK following its guilty plea to two health and safety offences. The Court of Appeal has given guidance in relation to the approach judges should adopt when sentencing very large organisations under the Guidelines and when it is appropriate to take into account the resources of a linked organisation.
