Rodney Dixon KC assisted by Aidan Ellis have appeared before the Kenya National Land Commission in hearings held this week in Kericho County. Submissions were made on behalf of over 100,000 residents of the county who have submitted land claims to the Commission for restitution and compensation arising from the colonial period and following independence in Kenya.
The hearings were a culmination of many years of investigation and evidence gathering on behalf of the complainants, and certain of them testified before the commissioners. The Commission was authorised to receive and investigate all historical land injustice complaints and recommend appropriate redress by amendment to the National Land Commission Act in 2016. The Commission will in due course present its findings and recommendations for the Kericho claims to the Kenyan Government.
