Legal Report on Human Rights situation in Saudi Arabia released

01/02/2018

Rodney Dixon KC, assisted by Aidan Ellis, with Lord Ken Macdonald KC have published their report and legal opinion on the mass arrests and detentions that occurred last September in Saudi Arabia. The full report can be found here.

They were asked by certain families of those detained to inquire into the circumstances and produce a legal report on the breaches of international human rights law with recommendations. The report is being submitted to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The UN General Assembly could also consider whether Saudi Arabia’s membership of the Council should be suspended. The report has received wide coverage including on BBC, Al Jazeera, and RT UK (interview here).
