Rhys Davies quoted in the Guardian following UN finding of arbitrary detention

20/06/2022

Rhys Davies was quoted in the Guardian following a finding by the United Nations that his client, Ryan Cornelius, has been arbitrarily detained. The UN has called for Mr Cornelius’s immediate release as well as the payment of reparations.

The Telegraph and Guardian newspapers covered recent developments in detail. Rhys was quoted in the Guardian as saying

“The mistreatment that Ryan has been subjected to by the authorities in the UAE shows a flagrant disregard for fundamental human rights. The FCDO cannot continue to ignore its duty to defend the rights of British citizens abroad. Mr Cornelius has been held arbitrarily for far too long and needs to be brought home to his family immediately.”
