Tyre blast Inquest

28/07/2022

Paul Kilcoyne was instructed by Anne Maguire of Geoffrey Leaver Solicitors on behalf of the family of the late Mark Digweed who sustained fatal injuries when a tyre he was fitting exploded. The Inquest was conducted by HM Coroner for Peterborough and Cambridgeshire sitting with a jury.

The Inquest heard that Mr Digweed, a mobile tyre repair technician , died on 22nd April 2020 from a traumatic brain stem injury when the force of the exploding tyre threw Mr Digweed back at extreme velocity causing him to strike his head on his nearby parked van. Issues were raised as to the level of training Mr Digweed had received and  why all his training records had gone missing. No satisfactory explanation could be offered by his employer, TyreFix UK Ltd. A verdict of accident death was recorded.
