UN hears evidence about detained Princess Latifa Al Maktoum

30th September 2019

Rodney Dixon QC representing Princess Latifa has appeared before the UN Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances (WGEID) in Geneva to submit updated evidence and information about her disappearance and detention in the UAE.

Princess Latifa has not been seen in public for over 18 months following a failed attempt to escape from her family in March 2018 when she was captured off the Indian coast while fleeing on a US flagged yacht. Her father Sheikh Mohamed bin Rashid Al Maktoum is the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. He is currently involved in child custody proceedings in the High Court in London against Princess Haya (Princess Latifa’s step mother) who recently escaped from the UAE to the UK. WGEID remains seized of the case and has been requested to take urgent steps to secure Princess Latifa’s release.
