Contractual Terms

The “Standard Contractual Terms for the Supply of Legal Services by Barristers to Authorised Persons” came into being on 31 January 2013.

The Standard Contractual Terms were introduced by the Bar Standards Board through a process overseen by the Legal Services Board, the umbrella regulatory body for both solicitors and barristers, which considered and approved the Standard Contractual Terms following consultation with interested parties, including the Law Society. They are subject to regular review and updating. Any new non-CFA instructions will be based on these terms, unless agreed otherwise.
