Georgia v Russia – European Court of Human Rights

Representing Georgia (being led by Ben Emmerson KC) in case against Russia before the European Court of Human Rights. The case concerns the conflict that broke out between Georgia and Russia in August 2008 in South Ossetia. Georgia is proceeding against Russia in an inter-State action for violations of the European Convention on Human Rights committed against Georgian civilians during the conflict including in respect of unlawful killings from bombardments and attacks on towns and villages, and torture and ill-treatment of captured prisoners of war and civilian detainees.
