Rodney Dixon and Rhys Davies have submitted an urgent communication to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Indigenous people, and the UN Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons.
The Huwaitat Tribe have been living in their ancestral lands for hundreds of years and have been forcefully evicted from their homeland by the Saudi authorities in order to make way for the NEOM Megacity project. The communication urges the two UN rapporteurs, as well as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, to open an investigation on behalf of the Huwaitat tribe and to take all necessary steps to protect their rights.
