Anisa Kassamali moderates at Geneva event on the Arab ‘Interpol’

Anisa Kassamali moderated an event at the Geneva Press Room on the use of the Arab Interior Ministers Council (known as the Arab ‘Interpol’) to conduct cross-border arrests of political dissidents. The event concentrated on the recent increases in such arrests without due process.

Fellow speakers included:

  • Sherif Osman: US-Egyptian citizen detained in the UAE for 46 days following a warrant issued by the Arab Interpol.
  • Haydee Dijkstal: Barrister at 33 Bedford Row and US attorney. Representative for Dr Al-Romaithi, who is believed to be detained in the UAE.
  • Falah Sayed: Human Rights Officer at MENA Rights Group.
  • Hamad al-Shamsi: Executive Director of the Emirates Detainee Advocacy Centre and member of the UAE 94.
