Yesterday marked the start of Phase 2 of the Southport Inquiry, chaired by Sir Adrian Fulford. Phase 2 will examine: (1) the adequacy of current arrangements for identifying and managing individuals fixated on violence; (2) the role of the internet and social media in influencing and enabling such individuals; (3) the effectiveness of current laws and systems; and (4) the position in relation to the sale and possession of offensive weapons and articles with a point or blade; in order to make recommendations to help prevent similar tragedies in the future.
Nicholas Moss KC and Richard Boyle continue to act as Counsel to the Inquiry, assisting the Chair as this important next phase of the Inquiry’s work gets underway.
